The Strategic Vision is the result of a broad based citizen input process initiated in 1998. In 2007, the Futures Council embarked on the ambitious process of updating the County’s Strategic Vision in order to help the Board of County Commissioners and the community at large identify and plan for the many challenges our County will face over the next several years. The outcomes of the Council’s Vision process will be used by County leaders to coordinate and prioritize efforts.
In order to update Tillamook County’s Strategic Vision, the Futures Council, in partnership with the University of Oregon’s Community Planning Workshop, conducted a thorough citizen-based visioning process. This involved 1) meeting with community stakeholders in a series of public forums, 2) surveying a random sample of full- and part-time residents of Tillamook County, and 3) conducting community workshops, engaging the County’s youth, for the purpose of refining the Vision. Resulting in an updated vision statement, goals, objectives, strategies, and benchmarks with new data, Futures Council representatives will deliver outcome-based recommendations to County-wide stakeholders and decision makers.
